Our unique location puts you in the center of an incredible natural sanctuary just up the river from one of the most desirable riverfront cities in the southeast—Wilmington, North Carolina.

We think of Downtown Wilmington as our lovely ‘sister city.’ It’s a quick 15 minute jaunt by boat to historic and hip Downtown Wilmington for a café lunch on the award-winning RiverWalk, eclectic shopping, an international ballet or a waterfront concert. There’s also big-name shopping, acclaimed medical facilities, and the Wilmington International Airport.

That’s the magic of The Bluffs location: you can be checking your crab trap on the river in the morning and take in a Broadway play at Wilmington’s opulent Wilson Center that night.

Our mild Carolina climate is one of our greatest assets. Spring here is lovely—with plenty of sunny days and a ‘flip flop’ start date that‘s much earlier than our neighbors to the north are used to. Get out, enjoy nature and be amazed by the dazzling show of blossoms that blanket our area.

Summer brings fresh breezes off the river, and endless sunny days. Fall here is perfection. There’s plenty of warmth and sun to keep enjoying the beach by day, cool ‘sleep-with-the-windows-open’ evenings, and glorious fall color. Winter offers crisp days, our trademark sweater-and-shorts days, and now and then, a ‘unicorn’ snow—exceptionally rare, but beautiful and quickly gone!

Here in southeastern North Carolina, we enjoy a world graced with water. It takes us where we want to go—the mighty Cape Fear River leads us to Wilmington and on to the ocean. It entertains: our own community lake offers an ideal recreation spot and reflects the Carolina sky. The Atlantic Ocean, a little over a half an hour away by car is ever present—for a sandy, splashy adventure day with family, or a sunset swim with someone special.
